[NEWS] 110317 Hyungjoon Talks About Kibum

Hyungjoon’s Interview with IS PLUS (*Only the parts relating to Kibum):

(Q) Your character business is flourishing.

(A) It’s truly beyond my expectation. Thanks to my brother Kibum that’s why it’s flourishing. Kibum even did the packaging of products himself, and also stuffed the cottonwool into the toys. The character cushions that were supplied to us and meant to be sold over 1 year has been sold out in only 2~3 months. Response in Japan and China is good too. Not long ago we also recruited 2 employees who are good in foreign language. We’ll start on aggressive overseas sales too. After the character ‘Piro Piro’ that was already released first, will be followed by another character ‘Siro Siro’. Our company is filled with the Festival Atmosphere. Haha.

(Q) How do you distribute the profits raked in from your business.

(A) I give it all to my brother. Because he’s the one working more aggressively his guts out for this.

(Q) Your brother Kibum withdrew from U-KISS. How will his future broadcast activities turn out like?

(A) He’s looking for an agency that will blend in well with him. Should there be any good agency for him, he’ll start his broadcast activities thereafter. It’ll be good if Kibum could succeed at first go, but I hope for him to become a singer who develops better and better over each stage by each step consistently.

[VIDEO&NEWS] 110318 U-Kiss Radio School Last Episode

Eli, Kevin and Alexander say goodbye to Radio School.

After all the recent problems with U-Kiss and their comeback Radio School has aired its last episode.

KISSMEs and K-Pop fans around the world truly loved the show and are feeling pretty sad about the cancellation.

Radio School was recently reformed and it became a show perfect for the 3 U-Kiss members. However, now that Alexander is no longer part of the group the show has also ended.

It is important to mention that the boys actually did not give their final goodbyes on the program. At the end of it Eli, Kevin and Alexander were giving their usual greetings but before we could see the classical end of the show, a sad musis started to play and it was announced that it was the last episode. It looked like the boys were recording a normal episode and that the cancellation was decided later.

Also their section on Arirang has also been replaced by a new link under the name of Ask Pops where fans can leave messages.

[NEWS] 110318 Kim Kibum talks in-depth about his former contract with NH Media

Back in February, NH Media officially announced that Alexander and Kibum would depart from U-KISS. Recently, Kibum and his mother were guests on a corner of tvN’s morning talk show, “Brunch“, through which they elaborated on details about his contract termination, while simultaneously clearing up some misconceptions.

Kibum revealed that he was in a 10-year contract with NH Media (of which he only served 3), which prompted the show’s MCs to mention ’slave contracts’.

He responded, “I received notice of my contract termination very suddenly. We were all doing well, and had recently came back from an overseas schedule. I did notice that my personal schedules began disappearing about a month before I was told of my termination. My appearance for shows I was canceled to attend would be canceled, or another member would take my place. I didn’t think much of it, but after I was told, I realized that they had been preparing my departure since then.”

He went on to add that although there were consequences for the artist terminating his contract with the agency (in terms of fines), there were no penalties for agencies when they cancel their contracts with the artists. Kibum revealed that although the contract between the members and the company were similar, there was an unequal distribution of income, as well as uneven contract lengths. In addition, he stated that U-KISS had never received a cent from their album sales, physical or digital. When they earned money from CF deals, it was split twice – the first cut would be between the company and the group, and then the remaining share was divided again amongst the individual group members.

Kibum’s mother also made an appearance on the show, and she shared that she divorced her husband while her two sons were still young. However, despite the difficulties she faced as a single mother, she said she never once regretted encouraging her sons to be idol singers.

The interview also saw Kibum confessed that he regretted dropping out of school during his trainee years. He said that now, he would encourage trainees to stay in school if possible, because unexpected things can happen, even to top stars.

Although he didn’t reveal much in the way of future plans, it doesn’t seem like we’ve heard the last of Kim Kibum
